Came here on a Saturday for lunch, the place was quite crowded, very popular it seems. They had the ordering system down though and we got through the line pretty quickly. Seating is limited, but they have some spots outside as well. Food was all very very good! We got the companion Lotto duos (half sandwich, half salad/soup). I highly recommend trying the Fowl Weather sandwich - the pepper jelly is so tasty! The roasted peach salad and the green chili potato chowder were also excellently flavored and spiced. Think of this place as a local, better quality St Louis Bread Co 😋
Yesterday I was very disappointed with my visit to companion. As a St Louis native that lives out of state, I was dissatisfied with the service and saddened because I don’t get to eat here often!
My family and I arrived at about 2:20 in the afternoon. I immediately noticed the negative mood of the employees; they seemed in a rush and acted as if they were trying to get rid of us. The water refill was empty about 30 minutes to close, and I received a rude response from the employee at the register when I asked for a to-go box ~15 minutes before close. The lack of urgency and interest in my experience as a patron is unacceptable, and the rush to get the store closed is unprofessional and selfish. Please be better!
The food's really good. People working there are cool. The Yuppie Boomers/Zoomers that frequent the place aren't my cup of tea but it's worth it to enjoy the chorizo n eggs. The soups are AMAZING!! Beef Barley, chili...yum.
This place has gone from average/below average to being absolutely awful. While the food is certainly not great, the main issue for us is with the service. The way the staff rushes you to make a decision, the rudeness from the worker at the register and most of all, the feeling of being uncomfortable/not welcome are some of the things that stood out to me. Also, the food is about a 4/10, which I've gotten agreement on from multiple (long-time) customers. Companion, Ladue is the perfect example of becoming complacent simply because they feel they have a small portion of the market cornered. I hope the owner notices a trend in the negative reviews. She is miserable to make eye contact with and has zero respect for her customer audience.
1. Lot is difficult. Narrow parking spots, narrow paths, not enough spots.
2. Room is packed. You are sitting almost on top of the next patron. During anything close to a busy time, there are no seats available. You will be waiting for someone to leave. Also, no way you will find seating for more that 2.
3. Food was pre-made. The sandwich I wanted was pulled out of the fridge already packaged in plastic wrap. What sandwich maker does that? And the sandwich was MEH at best. Small. Over-priced.
4. Service is quick to be done with you. I ordered a coffee. Once I paid and the coffee was started, no one gave me any attention. I watched my coffee sit there for five minutes while other guests were checked out. An employee only asked about it when another coffee was ordered.
5. The bagel I ordered (asiago) was as pale as the cream cheese I ordered. It is as of they never baked it. Isn't the store called Companion BAKERY?
RUDE STAFF I have been to this location more than a handful of times. The staff is rude, will run you out of the restaurant and sweep at your feet to be able to leave right at the minute of closing, register worker is mean and doesn’t listen to requests when I said I had an allergy. Won’t be coming back again - have given too many chances.
The baked eggs here and the bread is amazing. The place is crowded and loud and they severely limited online breakfast ordering. I have hearing issues so while I really enjoy the food, the ordering experience will keep me away from this place.
I ordered the Choo Choo chicken. I would review the chicken, but that is not what they gave me, so I'll review the roast beef instead. Let me start with the gratuitous amount of red onion and flavorless tomato ends. Once those were removed, a small amount of pale dry roast beef was exposed, which only covered a 1/3 of the sandwich. The bread was decent, but not, wow! Which one would expect from a bakery. The cookies were cakey and dense, with medicore flavor. I'm not sure what my wife paid for this order, but it was too much. She had a nice visit with her friend though. So there's that.
I would love to post a picture, but I don't see the option to do so.
Called in for a takeout had to talk to 2 different woman giving each the order just 2 number 4 Avocado toast extra toasted. 4 times picked up the order within 5 minutes and attempted to eat it within 5 minutes almost inedible we both only had a few bites as the centers were soggy and ends were barely toasted. Sadly Will not go back
Great food and service. There are plenty of tables. Very clean. Easy access and parking.
